  • Indiana State Parks and Lakes
  • Sixteen of Indiana's 23 state parks are within 50 miles of Shelby County. Two of the largest recreation areas in the state are located within that distance

    Blue River Memorial Park
Blue River Memorial Park is located in Shelbyville, Indiana. The Blue River Memorial Park is an approximately 186-acre park that includes a four-diamond softball complex with lights, an irrigation system, restrooms, concession and scoring tower, and 17-acres of soccer fields. Blue River Memorial Park also features walking trails and an accessible fishing pier.

    Brown County State Park
Located in the beautiful hills of Brown County off Highway 46, you will especially enjoy the variety offered in Indiana's largest state park, including nearly 20 miles of roads, with numerous scenic vistas.

Brush Creek State Fish and WIldlife Area
Brush Creek State Fish and Wildlife Area is a large tract of land that buffers the 900 acre Brush Creek reservoir.

Crosley State Fish and WIldlife Area
Crosley State Fish and Wildlife Area is a large tract of land that was given to the State in 1958. The property boasts a diverse topography of upland forest, lakes, ponds, caves, cliffs, as well as the flood plane of the winding Muscatatuck River. Crosley is well known for its fishing and hunting opportunities.

    Fort Harrison State Park
Landscape and history blend in a unique setting in northeast Indianapolis at Fort Harrison State Park. The 1700-acre park features walking and jogging trails, picnic sites, fishing access to Fall Creek and two national historic districts.

    Mounds State Park
Mounds State Park, located off I-69 east of Anderson, features 10 unique "earthworks" built by a group of prehistoric Indians known as the Adena-Hopewell people. The largest earthwork, the "Great Mound", is believed to have been constructed around 160 B.C.

    Muscatatuck Park
The surrounding county of Jennings County is one if Indiana's most natural and scenic counties. With two National Wildlife Refuges, two State Fish and Wildlife Areas, a State Forest and a State Nature Preserve, the wildlife and recreational opportunities abound.

    Summit Lake State Park
An expansive view and good fishing will beckon you to Summit Lake State Park, near New Castle. More than 2,680 acres including a large lake await your visit.

    Versailles State Park
Take a drive through the beautiful rolling hills of southeastern Indiana with Versailles State Park as your destination. Relax while fishing on the 230-acre lake where you can rent a paddleboat, rowboat or canoe. Bring your bicycle and pedal the nearby 27-mile Hoosier Hills Bicycle Route or wander the area.

    White River State Park
Here's a state park for those not in the mood to camp, hike, swim, fish or hunt bugs. It's natural to expect White River State Park to offer beautiful waterways, grassy expanses and tree-lined boulevards. And you'll find these in abundance. But for those days when you're hoping for more, we offer that, too!

    Whitewater Memorial
Two-hundred acre Whitewater Lake and access to Brookville Reservoir, along with other recreational/facilities make Whitewater Memorial State Park a great family getaway.
